Today in Library we will learn about the author Eric Carle.
The library is full of many books written by many different authors. We are going to begin to look at some books that are all written by the same author--Eric Carle!
What is an author?

Eric Carle is very special because he writes books and also illustrates them. Eric Carle began his career by drawing pictures for advertisements. One day, an author named Bill Martin, Jr., asked Eric Carle to do the illustrations for his new book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See? Eric Carle began by creating illustrations for books other people wrote. Soon Eric Carle began to write his own books. Eric Carle uses a special technique, called collage, to create his illustrations. He uses hand-painted papers to make his designs. He cuts and layers them on top of each other to make each picture look special.
