Today we will learn about plot
in order to identify its elements
and cite text-based examples.
Elements of Plot
•exposition– the introduction of the story, including the characters and setting
•conflict – the problem the main character or characters are facing
•rising action – the events that begin the story, build the reader’s interest, and lead to the climax
•climax – the turning point or most exciting event in the story
•falling action – the part of the story that follows the climax
•resolution – the explanation of the way in which the conflict is solved (the solution); also known as the "denouement"
